Serie A side Genoa have announced Patrick Vieira as their new head coach, a day after sacking Alberto Gilardino sportnews.

Vieira officially took charge on Wednesday and will take charge of the team for the first time at noon as they prepare for their first game at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris against Cagliari on Sunday, November 24.
Currently, Genoa’s performance after the first 12 games in Serie A has only won 2 games, ranked 17th in the table, one place above the relegation zone and one point under the management of Gilardino.
For Vieira, his coaching experience began with youth coaching at Manchester City. Followed by spells with New York City FC, Nice, Crystal Palace and Strasbourg. While as a player he also played in Serie A with AC Milan, Juventus and Inter Milan.
Vieira became Palace manager in 2021 and guided the Eagles to the FA Cup semi-finals.
